The objective of the Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital is to develop an institution of an international level by engaging the best medical and allied health care staff to provide the highest quality care. Following in the same vision the Accident and Emergency Department of Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital endeavours to provide world-class emergency services to the people. The department acts as the nerve centre to the institution acting as the point of primary contact, receiving all emergency cases and after appropriate primary management handing patients over to respective departments.
Strategically located in the industrial centre of the city and in close proximity to the Mumbai Pune Expressway it is the first point of contact for any industrial or highway accident.
State of the Art Facilities
ABMH is a 500-bed multi specialty hospital with a well-equipped and efficiently run A&E department at its core. The "save life" project of the A&E has been established with this very concept at heart. The duty of every doctor at the A&E is to save lives.
Under one roof we have state of the art facilities in the form of well-equipped ambulances, trained paramedical staff, trauma doctors trained from all over the world, a separate accident and emergency bay with an emergency theatre supported by 24hr CT scan and MRI facilities adjoining the A&E in the radiology department. In addition we have 13 state of the art OTs for 2nd and 3rd stage surgeries. We have ICU, CCU and NICU facilities with well trained supporting staff. These facilities are comparable to the American and European standards.
We have a trained paramedic staff that can start ABC at site and can do the restoration of the airway and stabilisation or the haemodynamics and promptly shift the patient to our centre without loosing critical heartbeat time. We will never compromise on the training of our staff or the state of the art facilities in the ambulance and in our hospital.
Accident and Emergency Department
The Accident & Emergency Department consists of a well-equipped 10-bed unit, which rivals any American or European standards. We have 3 dedicated resuscitation beds with all the latest equipments such as Cardiac monitors with NIBP and AIBP facilities, a dedicated ventilator, infusion and syringe pumps, dedicated crash carts with the latest defibrillator with pacing capabilities.
We have a dedicated polytrauma bay for any major accident cases. It is also stocked with the latest equipments as mentioned above. A dedicated Paediatric Emergency bed ensures that even the most serious paediatric cases can be handled without any problems. A minor cut and wounds room will be utilised for all minor procedures such as suturing of small Contused Lacerated Wounds, minor Incision and Drainage etc. A dedicated plaster room has been designed for all Orthopaedic procedure such as splinting, application of slabs, all types of plasters etc.
Finally an emergency OT has been designed with the latest equipment so as to provide any and all necessary emergency surgical services to the patient at any time of the day.

There are 2 specialist teams:
A trauma team comprising of an orthopaedician, a general surgeon, an anaesthetic and a medico who will be on-call to handle critical emergencies, 24 hours a day.
Similarly, a Code Blue team consisting of an anaesthetist, a medic and a cardiologist will also be available for cardiac emergencies.
The paediatric department will also greatly assist the A&E in the event of paediatric emergencies.
